    Artist description
Michael Ryan's music is a melting pot of a wide variety of influences. (I know everyone says that). The "These Times" CD is a five song demo that ranges from the fast, catchy acoustic rock sound of "Run Away" to the quick picking folk tune "My Life". You will also see a real influence from U2 and Radiohead in the lyrics and guitar of the intimate "My Way Home".

    Artist History
Michael Ryan started singing in a metal band called Ramadan. It was one of those high school bands that you try to avoid people finding out about. At 19, Michael fronted a band called Jedidiah while studying at Covenant Bible College in Strathmore, Alberta, Canada. (This too was a band that he has chosen to withhold from his résumé.) After returning to the Chicago area from Canada, Michael continued to play as much as possible focusing on learning covers. After recording a four-song folk-style demo CD with another songwriter, Michael began working on his solo material. After a few bar and coffee shop gigs, Michael formed a small group with long-time friend and bass player Errol Brown. With Michael and Errol as the core of their new hopes for musical success, they had trouble connecting with drummers. After a couple of gigs with lead guitar player, Mike Priami, and drummer, Dave Nelson, Michael and Errol had hoped to finally have a steady band. While this group, known as Flippin' Sticky and/or Body Like Tarzan, was short-lived, Michael has worked on his original material and plays a weekly Friday night gig at the Glen Ellyn Brewing Company. He recently finished his first demo of all-original songs called These Times. All of the guitar and vocal parts were performed by Michael, but he hopes to be back in the studio in the next 12 months with Errol Brown and friend and drummer, Brad Stott. The hope is that he will be able to finish a full-length CD with this trio.
