Artist History
THE ROAD TO DEMENTATION
The story began in 1997 when Christian and Daniel along with drummer Damir Bandic started to play melodic post-hardcore as BELLTOWN. After five years of ups and downs and the release of the bands debut EP things had come to a critical point. Stuck in pointless label negotiations, a cancelled tour added frustration on an increasing creative tension that led the band to split up in autumn of 2001.
When suddenly a lot of spare time appeared the three individuals hooked up with longtime friend Jonas Olander for some jamming. Jonas had a bunch of riffs waiting to be tried out and soon pieces started to fall into place by themselves. A band was a reality again, the WONDERLAND DEMENTATION DEPT.
With a new spark of creativity fueling the band WDD combined melody, hardcore aggression with heavy grooves. Within a few months WONDERLAND DEMENTATION DEPT. had made their live debut in Stockholm and began to record the Low Budget, Self-Titled Debut EP. During the following year the band played more live shows, and more songs emerged from the DEPT. as a distinct sound began to emerge. With Daniel now focusing on the vocal efforts, the lyrics continued to develop even more into political subject matter of war, imperialism, racism and class struggle. Inspiration for such lyrics was unfortunately very easy to find in the world after September 11th and the new era of global military politics that followed.
In early spring of 2003 the DEPT. made plans for a full length album, The Awkward Silence. Weary of broken promises and general bull from the music industry the band decided for a strict Do It Yourself policy. Prerecordings began in March with four new songs, which were followed in early summer with another six. But when summer reached an end it was clear that the commitment to the band and the upcoming album had taken its toll on the members. Not everyone could contribute the time required for the band. After discussions in late August, Damir and Jonas left the WONDERLAND DEMENTATION DEPT. agreeing that it would be for the best for all concerned parties.
Daniel and Christian began to search for replacement members and with a great dose of luck they met drummer Niklas Sandell to fill the vacant slot as rhythmic noisemaker. Christian also called a friend from school, Fredrik Andersson, with guitar experience from hardcore unit MISCONDUCT with an offer he couldn’t refuse. In mid-September the DEPT. was functional again, with even more energy and determination than before.
With the new line-up new songs suddenly came together while older ones turned out quite different. The plan for the upcoming album was a reality again as the hardest, loudest and most energetic incarnation of the WONDERLAND DEMENTATION DEPT. looked into the future.

LOW BUDGET, SELF TILTED - DEBUT EP -- [3,5 out of 5]
This band was formerly known as Belltown, which is a band that I never have heard. But with a guy from Eyeflower, they are called At-The-Moment now (check the news to get the whole story about the name). They come from Gothenburg in Sweden, and the music is some mixture between HC-Metal and Emo with a touch of rock n roll, according to my opinion.
There is 6 songs on this MCD, and all of them seems to be pretty good.... but 6 songs of this is just about enough for me. But if you are in to HC-Metal and/or Emo, check it out!

LOW BUDGET, SELF TILTED - DEBUT EP -- [3,5 out of 5]
Ok, first of all this band are from Sweden and are a bunch of really talented guys, they formed after belltown split, the old bands were stuck in a ditch and so the split happened, about a week later At the m0ment were formed. The album is slow paced, good rythmic riffs with some excellent tunes.
Its a powerful EP, the only problem with it could be the levels of bass in some places (could be higher) but all in all a quite good mettally album. Slow and melodic yet hevy and powerful, its a very good metally album.

LOW BUDGET, SELF TILTED - DEBUT EP -- [3,5 out of 5]
A.T.M. consists of members of Belltown and one guy from Eyeflower, which are both bands from Sweden. These guys have got a strange sound with as well alternative rock influences as the soft parts from old songs of Boy Sets Fire and sometimes even some nu-metal influences (nr. 4 {overlook} reminds me a bit of System of a Down).
This combination of influences makes me think that this band also can be something on a more mainstream level… we’ll see in the future what it will be. Check out www.at-the-moment.com for more info.

LOW BUDGET, SELF TILTED - DEBUT EP -- [4 out of 5]
Sweden's At the mOment is rocking the punk/metal scene over seas with their debut album titled Low Budget, Self Titled - Debut EP. Their sound is similar to the likes of Sunny Day Real Estate, Radiohead, and Drowning Man. They do the punk thing with a little different style vocals.
The vocals performed by Daniel Palm whose style is most like SDRE, are what stick out the most on the album. He doesn't have a very beautiful voice, but that's what makes him special. He doesn't really sound like too many other frontmen out there. Palm does his own thing.
The guitars on the album sound almost vintage. They aren't your typical punk guitar sounds. They have a little rough sound to them. The same goes for the bass and drums. They are just a little different from the rest of what you hear everyday. This works on most levels. The only problem is that it's not as catchy as you might like. Nothing on this album really gets in your head and stays there. While you are listening to it you like it, but afterwards it's difficult to replay the songs in your head.
At the mOment is one of the better bands out of Europe, and prove it on the tracks 'Safe House' and 'Rear or a New Generator'. Fans of Sunny Day Real Estate check this band out and watch them grow.

LOW BUDGET, SELF TILTED - DEBUT EP -- [3,5 out of 5]
When Belltown split I have to be honest and say that I was more than a little surprised. The Swedish post-hardcore crew had shown plenty of promise on their debut EP and good things were expected. Then the bombshell that they had parted was dropped and all looked bleak. Until the members joined up with Eyeflower's Jonas Olander to form At-The-Moment, a band who have picked up exactly where Belltown left off and improved on them.
The ATM self-titled debut EP is better than the Belltown record. That's not to say that Belltown sucked in any way, but whilst that album had plenty of good moments at certain points it lacked a little balls, or was a little too predictable. This time ATM have taken stock and made the harder bits harder for example. They've even gone a little more like Queens Of The Stone Age, which if you like that kind of stuff is no bad thing.
The record kicks off with the fantstic 'My Fate, My Burden', a track that immediately hooks you in with its fantastic opening riff, which is quickly followed up with a very melodic chorus. The guitars have a nice 'crunchy' feel to them, and Daniel Palm's vocals are perfectly in synch wi with the rest of the band. A special note also to Damir Bandic's excellent drumming which is notebale throughout. Second track 'Safe House' is a little slower musically, but the vocals are speeded up. It's a rather strange combination that does seem to work, especially by the chorus which is again extremely melodic. At-The-Moment seem to be able to combine some bone-crunching riffs without losing any of the melody that Belltown were famed for.
'Fear Of A New Generator' is perhaps the most disappointing song, as it's rather generic and obvious and certainly doesn't utilise the many talents that lie within this band. It goes back to some of the problems that Belltown faced, with the guitars and bass certainly not heavy enough to really bring out the emotion. Still, I'm sure this is rectified live. 'Overlook' slows the pace right down, but this time the track suceeds where the previous one failed. The dynamics of the song are perfect - and the guitar fills are also imaginative and well thought out. Daniel's vocals also appear to quiver at some points leaving you convinced that he totally means what he says.
'Resistance Radio (Intercepted Transmission) is a little disappointing as again it goes down the slower route for the majority of the song. But when the band do finally rock out - as hard as they do on the entire record - they sound brilliant. There's anger and more than a little fire in their collective bellies and this comes across really well. The finale of 'Selective Memory' ends things on a reasonably high note, even if the riff is a little too much like Korn for my liking. Still, it's loud, detuned and bound to get you all worked up if you are in the mood for it.
At-The-Moment are well worthy of 20 minutes of your time, especially if you are looking for something that is as far removed from the pop-punk norm as you can find. Not the most original band around but they are certainly good at what they do and a full length album would be well worth checking out.

LOW BUDGET, SELF TILTED - DEBUT EP -- [4 out of 5]
AT THE MOMENT, I'm listening to My Fate My Burden from AT THE MOMENT’S Low Budget, Self Titled - Debut EP CD. And I'll say this for it- It sure isn't boring. Actually, I'd say it's pretty damn interesting at least when created by Jonas Olander, former guitarist of the emo rock band Eyeflower along with former
members of the now defunct Swedish hardcore band Belltown: vocalist-guitarist Daniel Palm, drummer Damir Bandic, and bassist Christian Lundqvist.
Since I’m no rock critic, (somebody help me out here) it would be impossible for me to describe the fine nuances of this music performed by this band’s very talented members. The band describes its music as ‘ordinary political jazz.’ Okay, fine. Whatever. Just give ‘em a listen. Okay? Really. This is a band I'd love to see at The Mr. Roboto Project or really at any venue in Pittsburgh PA. So AT THE MOMENT when are you coming to my town, huh?

LOW BUDGET, SELF TILTED - DEBUT EP -- [3 out of 5]
I have some difficulty grasping "Low Budget, Selftitled - Debut EP" at first. But the more I listen, the more it gets under my skin. At the moment, who consists of members from Belltown and Eyeflower, play riveting noisy rock that makes your mood flip between angst and sweet escapism.
What does sound a little vulnerable is the voice of Daniel Palm, who does not sound quite as confident as earlier (on Belltown recordings). But I’m not saying his voice is bad, it rather adds a personal touch to the band.
At the mOment are good, but they have potential to become great.
