Polishing Up Chrome
Gimme three steps, baby. It's Southern rock and roll with the grizzled vets of the Stampede Brothers, who celebrate the release of Chrome at 9 p.m. Saturday at the California Brew Haus, 402 W. Ridge Road.
Chrome doesn't cover any territory that Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special haven't visited, but the biker crowd that these guys are aiming for will feel right at home. Judging by songs such as the Booker T. & the MG's "Green Onions" riffs on the Stampede Brothers' "What Does Love Mean to You?" and the excellent Fabulous Thunderbirds-style roadhouse rock of "Cry Baby" these local guys can play. Lead singer Danny Dee sounds convincing even on lesser material, like the predictable post-Sept. 11 bar-anthem "Stand Together."
Crystalson opens. Admission is $5. Call (585) 621-1480.
