Artist History THE GRINS have been writing and recording their own brand of original rock and roll for over the last twenty years. Amassing an impressive collection of over 300 original recordings (sprinkled with a few covers here and there for the fun of it!). Their creativity and originality seems to pour from an endless well. Ask any Grin fan what their favorite Grin tune is and 10 out of 10 will give you a completely different answer. No one seems to agree as to what the all time best composition by The Grins would be, but they all agree that picking one favorite is a very tough choice. The driving force behind The Grins sound is the warped musical mind of multi-instrumentalist Guy Clark (also known as Guy Grin). Very often compared to the musical genius of a Paul Westerberg or Elvis Costello, Guy consistently seems to bewilder and amaze his musical peers through his unconventional and inconsistent styles of songwriting. Many would argue that some of The Grins best work is found in the solo recordings conjured up and performed entirely by Guy. Either way, with the band or by himself, Guy and The Grins seem to have captured some musical magic that many informed listeners thoroughly enjoy. While a large percentage of Grin Music is currently unavailable to the general public at this time, there are some bootleg and other unauthorized releases that can be found. Currently, “Girlyland” and “Coffee Grounds” are the only licensed “Official Grin” releases commercially available today. But more works are promised soon.
