Artist History You might be asking yourself "What in the name of everything that is good and decent is 451?" Well, for starters, 451 is a Christian punk rock band based out of Cobb County, Georgia, formed in the fall of 2000 by Steven Wallace (guitar/vocals) and Matt Grinstead (guitar/vocals). Matt and Steven had been in a band together in the past. 451 got started when they were talking about how cool it would be to play in a band again. Soon after, Matt got in touch with his friend who played drums, Ryan Dofflemyer, and 451 was born. Eventually Cheston McAllister joined on the bass. In May of 2001, Matt and Ryan both felt that God was calling them to leave the band. They are still our friends and we wish them the best in the future. However, this left some empty spots in our lineup. Cheston switched to rhythm guitar which left us looking for a bass player and drummer. In August '01, David Purser joined the band, filling our need for a bassist. And in May '02, after 9 freakin months without one, jo firebaugh joined up on drums. 451's style of music can best be described as punk mixed together with emo, metal, hardcore and any other style of music that has been an influence to us. Our goals in this band are to play good music and to have fun, but above everything else, we want this band to be a ministry. What we want more than anything is to be able to spread the message of Salvation and see people led to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Why do we want to do this as a band? Simple, God has given us our musical ability, and this band is a way for us to show that we are grateful for our talents and to use them in His service. As we progress as a group, I pray that we will continue to keep God as our focus and strive to bring honor and glory to him.
