    Artist History
Backwards Alphabet, throughout its many evolutions, has maintained the idea of friendship on which it was founded. Dave learned how to play the drums in grade school, and halfway through high school he got the urge to start a band. He called his two friends Fitz and Ted, who didn't know how to play an instrument, and they jumped at the opportunity for a band. Ted bought a guitar, and Fitz bought a bass, and they both holed up in their rooms learning to play. Although at this point they had not even played together, it was fun to tell people they were in a band. Another friend, Tony, actually knew how to play guitar already, so he was automatically invited to join the band that was still nameless. The name originated from Dave randomly blurting out "Backwards Alphabet" after crashing into a tree while riding backwards down a hill on his bike. With a name and four members, Backwards Alphabet decided on a genre of music to pursue: Indie-Punk-Rock-Alternative(-emo). Still, the "band" never played. Senior year came, and so did two more friends who claimed to play guitar: Chris and Ed. Dave and Fitz, best friends, played together often, but there was a void where a guitar should be. Chris started showing up for practices Dave and Fitz scheduled, and the void was filled. Despite popular demand, Fitz took vocals for lack of anyone else. Then, came an angel at a mixer. Her name was Sam, and there was no way Fitz and Dave could refuse her when she told them she played guitar and sang. By this point CBA had five guitarists, so Fitz and Dave took some initiative and fired all of them. They quickly rehired Chris and Sam, because they were the best friends (and the prettiest). Backwards Alphabet started seriously playing! Still, Sam was unavailable a lot and unfortunately didn't work out, so CBA came down to Dave (Didi), Chris (Cam), and Fitz (Brick). Dave and Chris were unhappy with Fitz's vocals, so they seeked out the talents of friend, singer, and hottie, Vinny. As four seniors, these best friends were practicing and having a great time, but didn't have any gigs until graduation. As the summer progressed, another decision had to be made. Vinny wasn't working out, so CBA went back to being a three-member band. These three best friends went to college, practicing almost every weekend and looking around for gigs. Their searches haven't been as successful as they would have hoped, but the shows that they have played have been amazing. Backwards Alphabet has big dreams as they prepare to record their second demo. These friends will stick together to the end, whether thick or thin.
