Artist description
Aaron's Stetson is Borrowed, because he is not a natural born American. He first saw the light of day in Liverpool, England. However, Aaron was raised in the United States. Well, maybe not geographically... he actually lived in Africa for most of his youth... but he was "raised" in the virtual America he saw on TV or heard in his father's wide-ranging collection of Country albums, which took in Cowboy Copas, Bill Monroe, Ernest Tubb, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and a whole host of other big names and small.
In many ways the virtual America he was raised in was more real to him than the country where he actually lived, but with which he had little real contact: Nigeria.
Certainly, musically, it was the lyrics of country singers that stayed with him, rather than the rhythms of the Africa surrounding him, and which remained with him till he grew old enough to start writing his own music.
Aaron is primarily a songwriter. The songs here are not polished productions. The backings are primitive and the arrangements even more so. However, it is the songs themselves that are being showcased here and they are undeniably first rate.
Aaron hopes that you like them... and dreams that some big name star will like one or two enough to record one or two... but then don't we all dream of that. Meanwhile, here's hoping you enjoy the extraordinary range of this adopted son of the Nashville tradition.
