Artist History The Hopeless Heroes originate in Northeast Philadelphia. The band was first started in December of 2001. It all began with guitarist/lead vocalist Scott Markind in seek of a drummer to further his band effort. Soon he would come to find Ryan Johnson, at that time a freshman at George Washington High. Ryan fit in perfect. He auditioned for the band and made it . This is the kid who will play drums for the Hopeless Heroes to the present day. Scott and Ryan practiced countless hours and began to mold their musical creations into songs in a shed provided by Ryan's next-door neighbor. Some of the earliest material written by the Hopeless Heroes would be such tunes remembered as "Underaged Kid", "Same Old Day", and "Make No Rules" which have not managed to survive to make the present-day track list. After playing together as a band for exactly four months, the Hopeless Heroes will have gone through two bassists. Left without a bassist, the two remaining members set off to find a new one. During this search, a good friend of the band Richard Mo, mentioned that his little brother Alex was a bass player also in the process of getting a band going. After seeing Alex's impressive bass skills, Scott and Ryan quickly asked him to join the band, and Alex quickley accepted the offering. That was it. The band was set with the line-up you are used to seeing today, which is now Scott Markind: Guitar/lead vocals, Alex Mo: Bass/backing vocals, Ryan Johnson: Drums. This punk trio offers the musical stylings which contain influences from such bands as the Bouncing Souls, The Distillers, Anti-Flag, Green Day, Less Than Jake, and the Living End. The boys of the Hopeless Heroes are still rockin' out and playin every song to the fullest. As an uprising band in the local scene, they continue to play, and play, and play some more. On November 7th they completed their first demo at Ground Control Recording which has recieved a great acceptance from the teenage music scene in Northeast Philadelphia. Today you can either find them playing a local show, or practicing their butts off. But one thing is for certain........the Hopeless Heroes are here to stay!
