Artist History
Unite a Biologist with three Firemen. Result; Four individuals who have astonishingly unearthed common musical ground. Cultivating this cohesion from one another, Sudden Onset has managed to develop a distinctive sound that is purely derived from each member’s artistry affections. The combination of the unlikely quartet yields nuances of classic rock with soulful vocals, a reverberation of sound neighboring mainstream and modern alternative rock.
Since their formal inception in July of 2001, S-O has developed an array of whole-heartedly composed pieces incorporating inescapable mind-etching choruses, riffs and melodies ever pleasing to a myriad of rock lovers. Sudden Onset delivers meaningful lyrics alluringly encased within a captivating sound.
The band truly came to an unexpected commencement when front man Jason Serrano (vocals) teamed up with guitarist Stevie Simpson during the fall of 2000. Jason functioned as a paramedic instructor for Simpson. The passing of time in between training sessions launched the start of a dynamic song writing duo that later recruited another friend of Chile’s by the name of Scott Deitz (bass), who integrated with the pair 4 months later. The southern California based S-O then created the bitterly angry, yet catchy tune, “Ruin Me!” as the first song in their ever-increasing repertoire.
Even before a full collaboration of musical components could materialize, the bands future almost wasn’t. With the absence of a drummer, and a long-standing confliction of schedules among the trio, the then would be S-O found one another discouraged and nearly defunct. Renewal arrived when long time friend and experienced drummer Aaron Price approached Chile to rejuvenate the band suddenly and unexpectedly; Hence the name Sudden Onset. |
