Artist description
The music of NeXuS is a blend of pure heart felt agression fused
paradoxically with meditative calm. The result is a scizophrenic
yet accomplished sound, adorned with peaks and anticlimaxes.
The vocals vary from a raspy, eerily spoken-type voice, to a
throaty death-crunch yell, to a clean melodic chant.
NeXuS is for the open-minded, and anyone who enjoys dreaming and creation. |

Artist History
Mid '99: Mayhem, the Primordial soup for NeXuS, was formed out of epiphany and boredom of normal life by Justin Gaetano (guitar) and Paul Barrett (drums), two eccentrics from Coffs Harbour, Australia. At age 14 and 13, inexperienced jams were held at Paul's house, and covers of Metallica and Sepultura could be heard from the surrounding streets of Coffs Harbour.
August '99: Lawrence Malouf, a big hulk (who throws fish at Trent (Don't ask)) is recruited as bassist and really fits the role!
Sept. '99: Talent is found in guitarist/ singer Brenden Erb. He is recruited as singer and 2nd guitarist for a few months until he left the area later in the year.
Laurence left for a job on a fishing trawler not long after this.
May 2000: Michael Mirallis, the new kid at school is acquinted with the band. Known for his extreme eccentricness, Michael is recruited as bass player and learns to play bass along the way. He contributes to a fair amount of material to the writing process of Mayhem.MayheM changes name to NeXuS.
Mid 2000: Peter Black is auditioned for singing and rhythm guitar duties. A few jams are had, but Peter is judged as "an arbertritic land mine distributing lamb who sells fish nets to young baskets".
March 2001: Two new potential members are found, Daniel Cox on guitar, and Adam Parr on vocals and bass. Daniel, a really talented lead guitarist was not what the band was looking for in terms of a rhythm guitarist.
Adam on the other hand was judged a good singer with the right amount of aggression and charisma needed for this position. Seeing as he could play bass at the same time as sing, it was condeemed that he would take over Michaels bass duties after Michael moved to Sydney with his family. Michael moved on 7 - 7 - 01.
Unfortunatley we lost Adam as he had to move back to his home town of Ballarat, Victoria. We're gonna miss ya big fella!
November, 2001 : Justin finds new talent in Joel Davis, who takes up the role of bassist. Later in the new year, much to everyone's surprise, he jumps onthe mic and roars a few lines. From this point in time, Joel became the singer and bassist for NeXuS!
September, 2002 : NeXuS has been planning to record a studio demo for some time now but we have finally set a date, 1st October 2002 (Happy 18th Michael Mirallis!). We have been rehearsing frantically as well as completing the HSC. The assault begins !
