Artist description
Last Valley is a melting pot of a wide array of different musical stylings. The band does not like to be thrown into a particular category. They creatively draw influences from the genres of old school rock and roll, reggae/ska, blues, punk rock, with a tinge of funk and hip-hop. The collective conscious of Last Valley always strives to bring together their diverse musical likings in the most seamless way possible.

Artist History
Last Valley began as a trio somewhere around the dead of winter in late 2001. At that point the band consisted of Maciej Padowski on guitar and vocals, Jackhammer on the bass, and David T. Cohen, a.k.a. superbeast2000 handling percussion duties. It all started when by chance Maciej ran into David at his old place of employment. David and Jackhammer were working on random music on their own and Maciej was the final piece to the puzzle. They set a date to jam, and the sun rose over the Last Valley, so to speak. It was on. A good pal of the newfound band, Dino, consistently came out to the practice sessions to observe and suggest. After the recording of the band’s first EP this past July by 88 Fingers Louie/Rise Against guitarist Dan Precision, Dino was asked to join the group as rhythm guitarist to fill the gaps in the sonic soundscape. After Dino’s inception, the band toured about the region playing small festivals (including an event for the Green Party), kinetic basement shows, and local barbeques.

Group Members
Individually, David is definitely a hip-hop drummer, mentored by the likes of the Roots' ?uestlove and producer Timbaland. He brings the soulful sounds of urban streets to the Last Valley coalescence. Jackhammer comes from the school of hard knock punk rock. His bass stylings contain evidence of great things to come. Dino listens to a lot of 70's funk and glitch techno and attempts to translate the sounds to his guitar. His primary objective is to keep a steady rhythm and his sloppy, yet calculated guitar can be blamed on an early inescapable appreciation of Nirvana and fuzz rock. Maciej, an altogether different beast, learned to play guitar by way of an enormous Beatles fakebook and Jimi Hendrix records. A man of many talents, he plays the piano and produces drum beats for aspiring rappers. He also enjoys contemporary hip-hop, Japanese electro-artist Cornelius and Polish waltzes. |
