Artist History
Energy, passion, power, sincerity. These are the things you feel in the room when the Doc Sommers Band takes the stage. At shows, a chorus of voices can often be heard belting out the lyrics at the top of their lungs, taking the song's words for their own. These are the kinds of songs the Doc Sommers Band writes: songs that begin as theirs and become yours. Bound by a love for music and a love for God, this quartet began in January of 2000.
They understand that music can form a connection to the soul, so they seek to create music that speaks truth and encourages that connection. Josh McClary and Christian Tyler's driving, melodic guitars are a signature characteristic of the band's sound. Mack Brock's skills as a bassist and lyricist are equaled only by his vocal presence, which can express beautiful subtleness as easily as it can deliver powerful and memorable melodies. Supporting all this is the solid and experienced, yet intricate drumming of Mary Brock.
In February of 2002, the band recorded two songs with producer Bryan Lenox (Sonic Flood, Plumb, Michael W. Smith). The results showcase the band's growth and progression since their last recording in June of 2000 with producer Jeff Quimby (Lincoln Brewster).
The band plans to record a full-length in the near future and continues to write songs that open the heart and quicken the pulse. Songs that make you sing along. Songs that become your own.
