Artist History
The long story of The Slurpees is a long and storied one. What began as a simple experiment in futility has escalated into a massively complex and storied experiment in futility perpetuated throughout by the horrible musicianship of the band's members, Nick Place, Adam Tinkle, Kevin Broydrick, and Sam Peisner.
This storied story begins three years ago in the land of Narnia. Adam and Kevin first began playing together in the Deering High School Auditorium where they were brought together by their mutual love of songs and stories, both good and bad. They began a musical relationship that was strictly platonic, but produced a child...in the form of their flowing musical compositions.
Their very first gig was a storied musical competition known as Bluntfest at New Years Portland 2001. The night ended in tragedy, however, when Kevin was shot and killed on stage in mid-performance. The boys took first place and were rocketed into superstardom from a cannon mounted on Adam's roof. But unfortunately Kevin was and is still dead.
In the next few storied months, Adam and Kevin played many gigs throughout the Deering community, often assisted by the homely percussionist Nick Place. As the boys' musical appetites grew, they elected to spread their wings and add dreaded electrical instruments and a rhythm section to their sound, drafting longtime friend and sometime acquaintance Sam Peisner. The result was....The Slurpees.
After experimenting with several different types of musical genres, the boys came home to good old-fashioned power pop and long and storied jam rock. Entering the local music scene, they have recently opened for Even All Out and Pete Kilpatrick (and are planning to do so again several times in the storied future), and have shows in the works with Christian Hayes and Guns N Roses. Although some of the members will soon be ending their high school careers, The Slurpees plan to continue to play together through and after college.
