Artist description
Sasha Zayats & Dorogoi Drug (translated "Sasha Zayats and a Dear Friend") is an experimental duo from Moscow, Russia. The band members are Alexander Zaytsev ("Sasha Zayats") and Alexander Birioukov. All their songs are original. The vocal parts were sung by Alexander Zaytsev, who also wrote all the lyrics. The songs are in Russian, but the music isn't exactly Russian - it's a mix of funk, reggae, dub, folk, all recorded in the lo-fi style. The only recording device that they used was a Fujitsu laptop computer. Looking for unusual sounds, the artists made use of old instruments, uncommon ways of sound amplification. Special effects were created with various objects found in their apartments, such as old bongo drums, matchboxes and a squeaky toy called The Hare ("Zayats" in Russian). |
