Artist description
dark new wave, 80's goth-influenced pop ie depeche mode, cure, the faint...
my recording technique is a bit unconventional - im only using a small $50 sony ECM-MS907 minidisc microphone - - and a fender princeton 112 practice amp and my 3 year old compaq presario computer running windows ME and cool edit pro - i have a gibson S-1 and a borrowed bass and keyboard - i dont have any midi or clicks or anything - most everything you hear is effected guitar (with exception of "the dead sea" and "princess" which obvioulsy have keys - something i borrowed)
the drums i construct in cool edit pro as well - they may NOT be perfect according to a SMPTE timer - but its what gives the tracks a live sound and that is important to me -
then i write new guitar parts based on the song ideas and cut them up into small 4 to 8 count sized loops - i make about 10-20 differnt loops to work with incld variosu guitar lines and solos and bass ideas - i then sort them out into the track session (kinda like using ACID)
reverse, chorus, delay, reverb and phase the HELL out of most of the tracks - do mixes and pans - making sure the song structure is sound and perfect - then the last stage i add extended overdub guitars (ebow solos incld) to even it all out and give it atmoshpere and flavor.
- i maybe spend a good week or two on one song - but the time goes by so quick - i ge so obssed with it i cant eat or leave the house - so it takes alot out of me - i hear it just right in my head and it all seems to come together to easy for me when deciede on which sounds and mixes to use - im channeling something here and feel pretty objective about my music - i sit back at the end of each song and say "how the fuck did i do that?!?" - and i have found my perfect outlet - this weird poor mans setup - dont talk to me about triggers or midi - or drum mahcines -

Artist History
self taught piano starting at age 2 - I picked up
my first drum kit at age 13 when inspired
to learn the song "we're not gonna take it"
by 80's hair metal band twisted sister -
aquired an electric bass, acoustic and
electric guitar within the following year
after a brief deep love for early 80's heavy metal
(motley crue - ratt - wasp - ozzy - sorcpions -
def leppard - judas priest - van halen - journey)
my music tastes developed into punk -
with emphasis on the Los Angeles scene
(germs - x - screamers - black flag -
sex pistols - ramones - dead boys)
then fell in LOVE with 80's dark new wave
(cure - echo and the bunnymen - tones on tail - new order -
joy division - duran duran -depeche mode -
smiths - bauhaus)
couldnt help but get caught up in 90's college rock (nirvana - janes addiction -
smashing pumpkins - pixies - shudder to think -
12 rods - swervedriver - soundgarden - fugazi)
Played professional drums in a variety of bands
from 88-95 in oregon / washington before and
during the grunge explosion and enjoyed some critical sucess as drummer with such
bands such as:
uncle charlie, now william, jasper, kpants,
cherry poppin daddies - moved to los angeles
and have been trying to chenge this lame ass fucking town since
produced and wrote two soundtracks in 1999-2000
that never saw the light of day -
