Artist History
We are Via Satellite from York, Pennsylvania. We started three years ago as the band Death By Nostalgia. Recently we underwent some lineup changes and a possible relocation, hence the name change.
In the summer of 2000, we toured with Boxing Water from Boston and Six South (on Scooch Pooch Records) also from York, Pa. The tour went from New England to Virginia over three weeks playing basements and firehalls and not even coming close to breaking even. Early in 2001, we toured with Man Without Plan (on Creep Records) from New York. The tour took us from Boston to Daytona Beach over the course of two weeks. Once again we lost money, but we played for some kids tha knew us from the previous summer , which was nice.
For the rest of that year things were pretty stagnant. We played a couple of local shows until our bass player left to pursue another project. Shortly afterwards Seth (guitar, vocals) and Matt (drums) were on the verge of leaving to join Man Without Plan when their own lineup problems began. They eventually decided that the move was not for them and that they would continue with a new incarnation of Death By Nostalgia. We then moved Death By's singer Frank to bass. A few weeks later we recruited Andrea from the bands The MFC, fakefight, and Bev Niner on second guitar. For the first time in a year, we are a complete and confident rock trio (plus one).
We have the token old demo tape that no on wants to talk about, a split 7" with Boxing Water, and a full-length, self-released CD entitled Not Tonight. We have enough material for a second LP and plans to begin recording in January of 2003. We sound like ______________ meets _______________ with a little touch of _______________. This is usually where the pretention goes through the roof, but we will spare you. |
