Artist description
From the time amidst the chaos and destruction of September 11th, 2001, Short Wave Radio entered the recording studio to begin what would be their first demo. Late nights in the studio and long days proved to be all worth the time and effort once the band emerged still blinded by natural sunlight. The demo was released on a cold night at the end September to a packed crowd at the Tannersville fire hall in the Pocono‘s. Little did they know that so much would happen in the months to come.
Until its conception in the summer of 1999, the members of SWR were a tightly nit group of friends who loved to listen to and play music and get in trouble with the local authorities vandalizing the neighborhood. The founding members Ted Felicetti (vocals/guitar), Ian Oliver (vocals/bass), and Rob Felicetti (drums) started the band on the intent of making great music and playing as many shows as possible so they could get the hell out of Blakeslee, Pennsylvania, their hometown. With musical influences and inspirations ranging from Face To Face, Bigwig, the Rx Bandits, Rival Schools, Staind, and Unwritten Law, Short Wave Radio draws them together to create their own unique style. The influences range vastly in the band but when it comes down to it Short Wave Radio is a good old fashion rock and roll band who juts happens to listen to a lot of punk music.
Channeling all their efforts towards the progression of the band along with relentless playing and high energy performances, has given much deserved recognition and a large fan-base in the northeast to SWR. Tour after tour, night after night, fest after fest, SWR has developed themselves into professionals, performing at the 2002 Surf and Skate Festival, 100 local traveling dates in 2002, and playing with such acts as Catch 22, Bigwig, Autopilot Off, Show Off, Digger, The River City Rebels, the Stryder, Reliant K, Saves the Day, Big D and the Kids Table, Near Miss, Whippersnapper, and many more! Short Wave Radio once again entered the recording studio with engineer/producer Zach Hosier (Bigwig/ the Pennyroyals/ Stick Figure Suicide) to record what would be their first Independent release.
Keeping true to their punk roots Short Wave Radio has added a hard work ethic, to original music, and devotion to themselves and their fans. SWR has set out their goals and is determined to complete each one to their fullest potential. A full length record is now in the works and they hope to be able to release the album nation wide when the time comes. Until a huge major label signs the band (which they better friggen will) SWR will continue to get music to fans how ever they can, by selling CD’s at shows, promoting on their web site (www.swrsite.com), and getting music on various compilations and Indy stores. The band is looking forward to a time when they can headline their own larger shows and help out smaller bands and friends. SWR’s self reliant attitude will surly help them achieve all their future goals and help them become a pinnacle for bands years to come...although being immortal would be cool too.
