Artist description Mombomb are a three-piece Grunge/Punk/Noise-Core band from sunny Newport, South Wales The band consists of dread-locked vocalist and fret-board abuser RMZ, bassist and vocal reinforcer Richie and human beat-machine Chris Formed in 2000, in an attempt to offer a credible alternative to the washed-up, "Stereo-Phon-esque" Welsh Rock scene, with its bland songs and even blander live shows, Mombomb set out to smash the preconceptions and stigma of Welsh Rock and reclaim Newport's status as an epicenter for alternative music Their Debut album "We Rule, You Suck, Die!" (released through their own D.I.Y label Evil Twin in 2001), blends infectious melodies, seething percussion and corrosive riffs in a rabid fusion, spawning one of the most impressive records to come out of the Welsh underground in years. Their uncompromising sound has been hailed as "An all out nuclear assault…cranked to the tits …sonic mayhem", whilst still retaining that all important element, great songs with melodies that that just won't get out of your head! The band have been receiving international air play and recently appeared as guests on Total Rock's Metal Lunch-box, broadcast on Sky TV in the UK and world wide on the web, playing tracks to some of the 1,250,000 listeners and, the band were recently invited back. Mombomb have played a series of critically acclaimed live shows, including Community Music Wales' SPLASH TOUR, as well as highly successful shows at Cardiff's première music venues, Clwb Ifor Bach and Barfly. Mombomb's increasingly infamous performances, described as "…demented Hard-Core… with a growling bass flapping spirit … played with such furious enthusiasm you think their lives depend on it" by the Welsh Music Foundation's Honk magazine and ever growing fan base are set to catapult them into the industry and make them one of the essential underground acts in the U.K today. As Anita Bhagwandas' review of the band's recent headlining show at The Newport Centre put it " It's clear that with a sound this big Mombomb really could ascend to something special."
