Artist History The high energy Rap/Rock sound you hear today is the culmination of years of hard work and a lifetime of dreams. The story starts off in the mid-western state of Kansas, where Lucas Kuzma and Ryan Oliver were raised. The two budding musicians met in a theatre organization in high school, and began composing together while cutting class. They soon founded the popular Wichita rock band Montezuma. After 6 years of performance in Wichita, Kansas, Ryan and Luke decided to move to Hollywood, California in order to study the recording arts. Leaving with not much more than a guitar and a backpack, the 21-year-old artists started off on their long, poverty-stricken, road to stardom. Arriving in North Hollywood in early 2002, the boys began attending classes at the Los Angeles Recording Workshop and staying in the dorms. MBA Shakoor was living in his car at this time and met Lucas and Ryan through mutual friend and neighbor Chadwick Colburn. Sensing MBA’s trustworthy nature the boys eagerly gave MBA and his brother DJ a place to stay until they could get back on their feet. This two-week period of hiding from the dorm manager, and close quarter living actually spurned a creative bond between the men, and was the spark needed to ignite their music careers. The hardcore street sounds of MBA, fused with the melodious rock style of Ryan and Lucas, and became an immediate success, but something was still missing… Drew enrolled at the Los Angeles Recording Workshop during the same term as the Kansas boys, and the three began collaborating on some Hip-Hop projects in the studio. Suddenly Lucas and Ryan were awestruck by a fresh style of verse that they had never heard before. Drew’s creamy-smooth voice seemed to compliment the existing projects so naturally that the group insisted on adding him to the roster. With all four pieces finally found, the group began work on their debut album. The tracking, mixing, and mastering of the project was conducted by the group in the actual dorm where this saga all began. Chakra is currently self-promoting in hopes of getting their music out to as many listeners as possible.
