    Artist History
Brent was born in Michigan in 1977. His father played multiple instruments and always had musial equipment around. Brent knew that he wanted to sing and play music ever since he was small. He would ride in the back of the station wagon with his ear on the speaker to get closer to the music so he could sing and hum along. He tried to take lessons with a cheap Harmony electric guitar but was impatient and broke the strings trying to be like his idols. It wasn't long until he quit the guitar as well as the tenor saxophone which he also attempted to play. It wasn't until high school that Brent had the craving to really play an instrument. This time it was the drums. (A theraputic past time was needed) He used his Dad's drums and began playing with his first band Scarpone. The band played covers from their favorite bands Metallica, Alice In Chains, Megadeth, and Black Sabbath. His fellow bandmates were Corey Planck, Justin Pasquale, and Kevin Speck. One show was played at the Teen Center of Lapeer, Michigan. The boys changed stlyles and moved on to different bands. Kevin and Brent joined L.B. Deverell and Nick ? to form the band Tin Kitten. Justin and Corey then formed Electric Sunrise. Tin Kitten was a fusion between funk, punk, rock, and metal. They played a few shows around Lapeer and Flint and gained a small fan base. Nick left the band and Brent decided to take over the lead vocals. Justin Pasquale later joined the band and the guys were offered to record at Duck Ankles Studios in 1994. There they recorded 9 songs on the album - Just Add Fish. The album was never distributed to the public. They played local shows around Lapeer and Flint and also appeared in a movie "Our Town" - about drinking and driving. Tin Kitten was the band playing at the party in the party scene. The band ended up dying out in 1995. Brent and Justin took a road trip to San Diego California (Justin's homeland) and checked out the scene and stayed with Justin's family. Justin stayed in San Diego, Brent flew back home. Bills were a reality so Brent focused on working. Justin came back to Michigan in the end of '95 and him and Brent formed another band. This time it was with Corey Planck and Chris Hamilton. The band called themselves The Shade Corey was lead vocals, Brent focused on drums and back up vocals. In 1996, they relocated to East Lansing. Chris stayed on the MSU campus while the 3 others shared a house with some friends on Magnolia St. They entertained friends at their house parties and recorded a demo using a 4 track machine. 2 shows were played in East Lansing. The rest of the time they spent jamming and worked on writing. Brent moved to Los Angeles in 1997 at the age of 19. He moved with his entire band The Shade which now called themselves Sequacious Burgoo (Corey Planck, Justin Pasquale, Chris Hamilton) and enrolled in M.I. to study percussion. After a year some of the members continued on (Justin and Chris)together and started a new band with Matt Collins. Brent took a more active role in singing lead as a frontman/percussionist. The band was called Grandpa's Rubber Boots. In October of 1998 Brent formed a new band called Lambs Among Wolves with some friends at M.I. Friends that were involved were Ben Labi, Jeff Bowders, Maurice Verloop, and Svend Lerche. Lambs Among Wolves only had a few live performances, one of which was an opening spot for The Emotions in April of 1999 in Hollywood. Soon after in May of 1999,Brent was asked to audition as lead singer of a promising band with no name. He was chosen as lead singer and began recording with them right away. They were named Jet Pack Heroes - the line-up Nick Nolan, Justin Michael, John Button (Michelle Branch), Dave Allen(Michelle Branch). Jet Pack Heroes only played a handful of gigs throughout LA and played once in New Mexico at the Santa Fe Film Festival and did a radio performance in the studio of KSFR FM. Jet Pack Heroes went through some political bullshit and the line-up changed in early 2001. Justin and Brent continued and asked Svend Lerche to play drums. They then met Jesse Fishman at the Malibu Inn and asked him to play bass and they began to write new songs and play some more shows. A delayed response from some record labels had carried over from the last demos and they were asked to do a private showcase for Jimmy Iovene, Jordan Shure, and Tony Ferguson. They played and were handed some comments. One of the comments was that "the singer is weak" - "we would like to see them with more development". All in all between the first regime and the second of Jet Pack Heroes - 15 record labels had turned them down. To get a clean start they changed their name to CLOCKWORK. In July they recorded a 3 song demo with Orlando Rashid. Things looked good for CLOCKWORK as they were playing good shows and their song "You" was selected for the MI Jams Vol. 2 compilation CD which has aired on over 200 college radio stations. In September 2001 just after the twin towers went down they were asked to play on PAX TV for Ed McMahon's Next Big Star. CLOCKWORK performed "Getting Nowhere" the first round and advanced they played "Attitude" the second round and were sent home. CLOCKWORK and Justin Michael decided to part ways in November of 2001. They asked Alessandro Cortini(ModWheelMood, Everclear, Mayfield Four) to play a few shows with them around LA. He agreed and later played guitar on thir 2002 4 song EP. Brent recorded his vocals in Alessandro's closet while the guitars and bass were recorded in his living room. All the songs were tracked using Logic before adding the drums at Klown studios using Pro Tools. Byron DeLear then mixed the 4 song EP at The Lab. Since Alessandro was busy on other projects CLOCKWORK friend Ronny Mikkelsen to join the band. Things got off to a great start but then instantly the band was dealing with personality conflicts. Svend and Brent met with Ronny and decided to take seperate musical paths. (Meanwhile Jesse was on a series of fishing trips) Brent and Svend began searching for guitar players and jammed with Ernest Jow who was dealing with a wrist condition and was unable to continue playing. CLOCKWORK was selected to play the Acoustic Live Battle of the Bands and needed to figure something out for the performance. They contacted a friend they had met at M.I. named Jes Christensen and learned 3 songs for the show. Since it was an acoustic show and the atmosphere was intended to be relaxed, Brent decided to attempt to play guitar and sing for the show. It was his first public performance with the guitar October 13th, 2002 at the Westwood Brewing Company. Brent dedicated the performance to the memory of John Dexter, co-worker and friend at The Canyon Club. The set consisted of "Daydream", "Mama", and "Frequency". "Daydream" and "Mama" had their debut performance and the audience received them well. CLOCKWORK is still happening although Jesse Fishman has walked away silently (The band still has no clue what happened) they are currently looking for musicians to collaberate with. Ernest Jow has come back on board to play and write. Brent has decided to just keep writing songs under his Publishing Company - Brent Wheeler Music and let the creativity flow.
