The Ill Wind Ensemble creates a unique world of
music with spontaneous improvisation, unusual
instruments and an ambient but jazzy sound.
Our performances feature traditional and unusual
wind and percussion instruments whose origins
range from the hardware store to India, from
found objects to Medieval Europe. |

Artist History
Formed in 1993, The Ill Wind Ensemble has performed in their hometown of Brattleboro, Vermont at the Hooker Dunham Arts Center, the Vermont Jazz Center, the Windham Art Gallery, La Sirena, and the Common Ground. They have appeared at venues in Western Massachusetts including Fire and Water Café, the Shelburne Falls Art Bank, the Montague Bookmill, and the Kripalu Yoga Center, and in Cambridge Massachusetts at the Middle East Cafe and the Multicultural Arts Center. The band plays twice a month at the Vermont Jazz Center to provide musical accompaniment for a group of improvising dancers. |
