Artist History
The band was formed in the summer of 1996. In the early years the band went under lots of different names, for example 'B. Toklas', 'Cheap red wine poets' and 'Lhama'. The original members were Lina Eriksson (vocal), Daniel Henriksson (drums), Jimmy Bergwall (guitar), Daniel Retz (guitar) and Magnus Eklund (bass). Shortly...they met each other in a recording studio in central Uppsala. They loved to play, and was seen playing at pubs, clubs and other strange places that you can find. After a while Daniel Retz decided to drop out and quit playing with the band. It didnīt last long until Eklund also took farewell of the band. The remaining members played on for a while even though they were only three members, but they were constantly seeking for new members. Suddenly one day, they found Stephen Burt. A nice and friendly guy from Birmingham in England. The relation clicked immediately between them. Stephen liked their music and it didnīt took long until he became a member. They were now playing under the name 'B. Toklas'. The band was in a serious lack of a bassplayer. It was emergency time. No bassplayer, no band. They tried out a several of bassplayers during a period, but no one really seemed to fit the group. In early january 1999, Jimmy contacted his old childhood friend Stefan Lindgren, who is a very good guitarplayer. Stefan has his roots in heavy metal bands where he played drums and guitar (but not at the same time). Stefan agreed to try out as a guitarist in the band. After hearing the music he was stunned. He liked the music a lot. He and the rest of the band matched, and he became the new guitarist of the band. So now the band had three guitarist but there were no bassplayer in sight. As a final solution the bassguitar landed in Jimmy's hands. A choice that later showed off to really be a success. Jimmy is a well talentet bassplayer, and a perfect match again for the band. Finding a good name for the band A good bandname is always hard to find. Lotīs of bandīs are desperatly seeking for the perfect name. This band is not unique in that point. The band has changed names several times during the years. Shortly after that Stefan joined the band they changed their name to 'The Bramstokers', but no one really liked that name. It didnīt seem to fit the band. All of the band members sat down for hours, trying to come up with a good name. One day at work, Stefan said to Jimmy;
"I know what name we shall take for our band... Spiral Motion". After consulting the other members in the band, they all decided to change the bandname to 'Spiral Motion' after one of their songs they like - Spiral Motion. It sounds great and it is a good bandname. This time the band name will be permanent, I think. I guess you should never say never, but at least they all agree that it is a name that is perfect for the band.
Now with songs like 'The Chaos Parade', 'No. Five', 'Spiral Motion', 'Act of contrition' and 'Ripcord' they are writing history in the musicbooks.

Press Reviews
A burned CD. The cover is black and white. Reminds me of the old-fashioned vinyl singles with their photocopied covers. Not so appealing, maybe. Spiral Motions are an Uppsala band. Five guys and a girl who play something that resembles modern blues. This demo is good, very good. It really is blues. The whining guitars with Lina's high voice are wonderful. It is like being transported to a smoky, rough little blues bar somewhere. It may not be so new, but for our times, when everything is constantly revived, and no new styles seem to come to the fore, this feels innovative. Several instruments are used. The congas on the fourth track, (The Chaos Parade), are just so right. It would really be a scandal if Spiral Motions didn't get somewhere and present this musical emotion. I am lyrical. If I were to be a little critical, maybe some songs tend to be a bit long. It is blues. It is all in minor keys. But what does it matter, the music has already taken over my senses.
Spiral Motion, remember the name.
Marks: 5 out of 5.
