Artist History
Soulos' future was clearly defined from the start when, in 1993, Andrew Mays began experimenting in audio manipulation.
In the years following, Andrew continued to develop techniques and strategies for digital sound generation and audio de-construction by performing with a free improvisation jazz group in Nashville, Tn.
2000 saw successive live solo performances at private parties as well as the release of the first Soulos album, "Spider Leg Stew." A mixture of influences from musique concrete, jazz, techo and new age helped form the unique style and sound of Soulos music.
The 2001 album "Butterfly" demonstrates greater diversity in sound. It challenges the listener to explore both the rough and rugged audio landscapes like "Stranger in the Void" as well as the smooth rolling rhythmical patterns of "Five, Five, Five."
Soulos continues to develop towards fuller maturity. After performing live shows at an intimate dining setting located in the Cool Springs shopping district, Soulos collected material for the 2002 release of "Questionable Predestination." The creation of the album using live material broke through the previously established studio processing techniques.
Discrepany Recordings of Nashville is interested in Soulos and makes arrangements to release a Soulos track on "Area615," a compilation of Nashville's finest electronic music. Discrepancy also makes plans to release a disc of Soulos remixes. The new album, "Dark Destinations" is an abrasive, edgy and seductive album demonstrating the full potential of Soulos' future. |

Press Reviews
"Tones and electrical twitches spin out of control. Composed electronics have chance meetings with unpredictable audio tracks and form the soundtrack to an explosion at Toys R Us." (listen.com)
"Strange sounds create their very own atmosphere and bring up images of deserted, half-collapsed homes in the middle of nowhere." (freestylegrooves.com)
