Artist History It was 1991 when bass player CARL GAVET, then a young Christian, was so impacted by the uniqueness of his new found relationship with Jesus Christ that he decided he would hang up his "axe", stow his abilities as a performer, and focus on serving God wholeheartedly. Thus began a venture which ironically would take him full circle to discover that his musical talents would be the very "instruments" with which he would serve his Lord most effectively. In mid 1992, the New Zealand born Samoan acquired a synthesizer and music software, which was somewhat perplexing to his wife Diane, given that Carl was a stranger to the piano. Unbeknown to anyone, REVELATION’s inception was taking place. By 1993 Carl had familiarized himself with the piano/computer combination and was now comfortable enough with his new-found talent to dash out a few tunes. It was at this time he teamed up with two of his older brothers and recruited powerhouse lead vocalist, MARCUS TEMU. Together they embarked on a mission to "share" in prisons and churches where they were embraced by their listeners. It wasn't long before an invitation was extended to them to be a part of New Zealand's largest Gospel Music festival, "Parachute Extreme". By now, REVELATION's imprint was well and truly taking shape. In 1997 REVELATION created and recorded their first demo. They discovered and implemented the outstanding vocal talents of brothers TULELE FALETOLU and FALETOLU FALETOLU. Shortly following this, ROBBIE KARENA (lead guitar), JAMES CLAY (drums) and LOUIS COLLINS (keyboard) joined the lineup. In 1998 the band sojourned across the Tasman for performances in Sydney, Australia where, in 1999, they eventually relocated and continue to overwhelm audiences everywhere - whether they are playing locally, in New Zealand or in the U.S. It is now March 2002 and REVELATION's long-awaited, self-titled album is finally here. Although of the core seven, Tulele, Louis and Robbie have stepped away to explore and reflect upon an alternative realm of God-serving possibilities, they still lend their awesome talents to the band as is the case with this latest project. REVELATION's sound, however, remains constant - as insightful and uplifting as ever and Carl, Marcus, Tolu and James continue to enlighten all those who listen as they drive home the truth behind our existence. Soaring vocals powerfully and yet thoughtfully, communicate REVELATION’s uncompromising lyrics of faith and forgiveness which are delivered through the eclectic sounds of new skool R&B fused with Urban Gospel. Their sound could easily be compared with those of some of their primary influences such as Earth, Wind & Fire or Gospel legends "Commissioned". There’s a strong African American influence. However they certainly maintain that signature element of Polynesia mingled throughout their songs. Apart from talent and substance, family unity is clearly demonstrated both on and off stage with the REVELATION team which is inherent to Pacific Island peoples. Even more evident is the atmosphere of constant and genuine oneness of heart for God which reflects them and is something that audiences absorb. REVELATION is more than a band and their music so much more than entertainment. Their music is the message. And they deem themselves messengers bringing forth the truth of God's extravagant love for every one of us. Their stories are real, their interpretations clear and their arrival...timely.
