Artist description
Clean, powerful, golden voice with huge vibrato and tons of range. A strong frontman presence from the old school 80s heavy rock world. A performer who is just as much at home in the studio as on the stage. At 6'3" he's a force to be reckoned with in any live setting. |

Music Style
A true quality voice. If a label had to be chosen it would most likely be heavy metal but Peter is capable of much more than what that would indicate... |
|
Musical Influences
Any good voice coupled with music with strong melody. Peter grew up looking up to artists like Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Judas Priest, TNT, Fates Warning, etc... |

Similar Artists
Most often said to be a cross between Geoff Tate and Bruce Dickinson... |

Artist History
Peter's musical roots go back to childhood when he was raised by musical parents in a musical family. His father
(John) was good with a guitar and mother (Elizabeth) was a proficient pianist with a beautiful voice. His older
brothers also each waded into the musical waters in his own way. The eldest (Jim) to this day still enjoys playing
country/blues guitar. Tom was a great drummer in the early days and later took to playing bluegrass banjo. Number
three son (Doug) was a strong influence as a rock guitarist early on then found greater satisfaction with his six string
in the jazz world. Bill was next in line holding down the bottom end with the bass guitar for many years. Even the
younger brother (Bob) spent some time making music as a very solid drummer/percussionist. All contributed in their
own way to starting Peter down the road that took him to where he is today. Grade school chorus and high school band were fun but a record given as a Christmas gift was the influence that
really started things moving in a particular direction. As a child he was given an Elvis Presley album (Elvis' Golden
Records) by brother Bill and songs like Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock awakened a strong interest in voice and rock
music in general. He could often be heard singing along even as a youngster. At age seventeen a local garage band
had an opening and Peter stepped in and started singing into a microphone for the first time. Strong eighties heavy
rock voices like those of Geoff Tate and Bruce Dickinson became an even stronger influence that helped develop a
voice and style early on. That was the beginning of the end. After being in and out of several garage bands an opportunity to audition for a legitimate touring band (Visigoth)
came along. He did his best but wasn't just what the band was looking for. They did, however, turn him on to a voice
teacher (Katherine Montcrieff) who had done great things with one of their former singers. An interview was
scheduled and from that time to present she has been his only vocal instructor. Peter was able to develop his voice
much farther and that opened the door to some better gigs. Peter sang with such well recognized Upstate New York Bands as White Noyze, Justin Tyme and Monolith. He
also spent some time in South Carolina as the front man for Rosetta Stone and in Philadelphia with Shadowdance.
His many years' experience are obvious to anyone who has had the pleasure of attending a live performance. After almost five years away from music entirely (due to some poor life decisions) he found he couldn't live
without voice and music and engineered a very difficult comeback into the local music scene. A twelve song vocal
demo of cover tunes (Molte Voci) was the end result of that comeback effort. Now, two years later, at age thirty five,
he's once again ready to take on the music world with a vengeance. Currently working with multiple cover bands for
stage time and former members of Monolith (guitar ace James Allan and bassist Steven Wright) with hopes of
resurrecting a fantastic original heavy rock act Peter is singing better than ever and looks forward to what the near
future has in store. Now drawing on a very diverse selection of influences (everything from Broadway and show
tunes to modern metalcore and raprock) he'll undoubtedly continue to grow and develop as a singer and entertainer.
When the right project is in full swing he'll once again be a true force to be reckoned with in both live and studio
settings... "See you all at a gig somewhere soon" (Peter Andrews - 2002) |
