Artist History
Matt began playing guitar at the age of 14, and began writing his own songs soon after. He was a member of the alt-rock cover band Satellite 5 from 1999-2000, but it was the duo he formed with guitarist Scott Porter - Baxter Frequency - in 2001 that made him focus on songwriting. It was this period of collaboration that spawned Matt's most prolific songwriting period, writing over a dozen songs in only a few months while still in high school. Baxter Frequency only performed one show, but the response was very encouraging. That fall Matt began attending Bowdoin College and playing coffeehouses and open mics with his brother, Chris (vocals, guitar) - who was also a member of Satellite 5. The support they received from these perfomances encouraged them to record an album, of which they finished only 4 tracks (including "Silence"). When Chris joined Logical Project in the fall of 2002, Matt decided to focus on playing solo and writing more songs, and he is currently working on both an album of original songs and an EP of acoustic covers of hard rock songs, a few of which he originally played in Satellite 5 almost four years ago. |
