Music Style 90's Rock mixed with Punk and Ska

Artist History LUSH formed in January of 2002 when lead-vocalist and guitarist Dan Spring rallied fellow members of the Brown University baseball team Cam Mitchell (guitar and vocals) and Jim Lowe (drums) to jam in an abandoned storage room on campus. The trio soon added bassist hammer and LUSH was born. Quickly putting together a set of all their favorite covers (Pearl Jam, Sublime, Tom Petty, to name a few), the band was playing packed gigs at Brown's fabled Underground within a month of their first rehearsal. As the baseball season came to a close and the group had more time to dedicate to music, LUSH hit the studio in May of 2002 to record their demo CD of 5 original tunes. After a summer hiatus, the band returned to Providence in September with a bang, playing in front of 2000 students at Brown's annual College Kickoff Party. The band's popularity soared after this is gig and hundreds of fans lined up outside The Underground three weeks later only to be shut out as the room reached full capacity an hour before the band was scheduled to take the stage. LUSH is currently in full-swing landing a Halloween gig at the prestigious Met Café, headlining Brown's "Live on Lincoln" fall concert, and playing a benefit show at the Living Room. In December, LUSH returned to the studio to record their first full album in hopes of bringing their unique style of rock inspired tunes with a hint of punk and ska to the masses. Currently LUSH has been playing around campus and deciding the future of the band, as Dan Spring will be departing for California in June.
