Artist History
The band started out in almost two years ago in Kyle's garage. The original band also featured Curtis and Adam. They played an intense mixture of punk and rock, but something was missing. They went through a number of guitarists but eventually they gave up and that's when Justin joined the band (around March 2002). He originally joined in order to play at the Grandview talent show. However, at their first jam session in Kyle's living room, "You Don't Know Me" was written. None of the members knew what would happen next...
In the same evening, Kyle wrote the song "Call Me Bacon" and things began to pick up. With Justin on board, all of the members were motivated to work hard and the band began to take shape, eventually setting up gear in Justin's basement for daily practice sessions. The band remembers those sessions as long and grueling, "We worked our tails off, but I feel the results are the payoff" noted Curtis.
Three weeks and 3 songs later, the band was offered a gig by the band Your Mom to play their first show at the Vineyard. This was to be their moment of triumph. They worked hard and rehearsed extra hours in order to prepare for the intense gig, which would also feature the band, 3-Way Stop. Auggie's knew that they would have to knock the socks off the audience in order to win the day...
The gig was a huge success. The show was recorded live on a tape and is still available, however the band notes they've "improved much since then". The band moved on quickly after the first gig and began writing new material. Songs such as "Misunderstanding" and "Glue of Life" were written during this period. Also, the band was working hard playing gigs across the land and working full time to support their families.
The next step was naturally to put out a recording, and the band knew of a good place called One Accord which did live recordings of bands. They managed to secure a show on September 27th when their now-famous CD was recorded. Now that the CD is released, the band has been taking a little bit of a hiatus, writing new material and taking a break from playing shows one or two times a week.
