Artist description
The Cloves are unique band with an equally unique sound. Their music is centered around good song writing and strong melodies leaving the songs to speak for themselves. The band is made up of two long time friends Michael Hochstatter (vocals, guitar & piano), Kevin Poleskie (vocals, bass, & piano) and recently added Jason Maybell (drums, percussion).
Michael and Kevin have been friends since age six living only a block away from each other in the small town of Sumner, Washington, 30 miles south of Seattle. The two boys attended grade school, middle school, and eventually high school together. High school proved to be an important time in the two's life because that is when they first started writing songs together. Since then, over the past 8 years, their sound has evolved into and come it's own.
After high school Kevin went to college at Western Washington University where he eventually graduated with a degree in history. Michael stayed at home having been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and focused on his music. With Kevin out of school the band was ready for a third member. Jason Maybell former drummer of the Seattle band Mayfly, was just the man for the job. Jason added a new dimension to the sound and feel of The Cloves.
The song writing team of Hochstatter/Poleskie is honest, mature and positive which in their opinion is missing from popular music today. Their songs have a "let's get real and loose all the gimmicks aspect," which seems to be very appealing to many people in this day and age. The band has a real variety to it's songs.....a rare find among today's groups and on modern radio stations.
The Cloves are currently not touring due to Michael's battle with Chronic Fatigue Immune Syndrome (CFIDS). During this time the band has locked themselves away in their home studio to concentrate on writing songs and polishing their craft. Due to the situation the band uses their website as their main promotional tool and way of interacting with their fans. The band members' strong friendship and creative chemistry can only lead to a promising future. |
