Artist History
Meeting at college in Providence, Rhode Island, Pat Arnold and Will Bernat formed schroeder when they realized that they shared a love for indie/alternative music in an environment that tended to listen to strictly classic rock. From there, it didn’t take long for the two to collaborate on a single, record it, and push it to the local radio station. The Wonder Years single, recorded under the name jones street serenade, received mild success on Providence college radio for its presentation of lost beauty in the form of a television character and the duo became a staple of the local coffee house scene. People responded positively to the simplicity of the instrumentation, two acoustic guitars blended into harmonious vocals, and schroeder’s sound was born. T he ensuing months brought more songs and schroeder, at the time going by simply will and pat, took their act from the familiarities of home, previewing their material to local colleges, opening for regional favorites Simple Discourse at the College of th e Holy Cross in Worcester. What schroeder found away from home, however, was much the same as what they had left: a resounding reception by individuals who appreciated what the two were doing, capturing the emotion and influence of an indie background int o an acoustic setting. And now, schroeder embarks on an exciting future. With the release of their first e.p., shine for anyone, schroeder displays their characteristic sound in an emotionally charged acoustic album that is both beautiful and raw, heartbr e aking and uplifting. Drawing influences from bands like radiohead, the gloria record, and dinosaur jr., schroeder continue to win fans anywhere they play. And, with Brian Mackintosh on board as drummer, the sound that is schroeder continues to draw peo p l e in, always developing, yet always keeping in tact those same ideals that inspired them to form in the first place.
