Artist History
N/A is the combination of three guys in their early twenties with very diverse backgrounds. With a name as unique as its band’s music and members, N/A began its initial impact in the music world back in the spring of 2001 with their debut at Manhattanville College’s Quad Jam. Bringing together shades of jazz, classical and Latin music into a pop/rock blend, three guys with three very diverse musical upbringings have been working together to create a blend of sound to which many would become instantly attached.
"Great band with amazing harmonies. I love it when bands are tight and there are multiple talented singers in the group. N/A is not disappointing in this. Smooth songs, smooth sailing, a great night for fans and band alike. Enjoy this amazing band." - MusicTV.com
From Maine, Connecticut, and the Dominican Republic, N/A's members all met at Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. Three music majors that were nothing more than mere acquaintances became a band, as well as close friends, when they began practicing in the basement of one of the campus dorms in a room known as the “Dungeon”. Their summer vacation of 2001 was spent building a repertoire of songs that would lead to their New York City debut at Acme Underground in the fall of 2001. The band would go on to perform at such historical New York City clubs as Downtime, CBGB’s, CB’s 313 Gallery, and the Continental. N/A began to take the Internet by storm when they were featured in an online broadcast on MusicTv.com, and several webcasts on CBGB.com. The band has also received special accolades from two prestigious music websites. In the winter of 2002, the band’s songs “Grains of Sand” and “One Way Street” climbed to number one on MPulse.com, and in June of 2003, their song “Picture of You” became a garageband.com featured track of the day.
As N/A’s performance rsum increased, so too did their set lists. In the late winter of 2002, N/A recorded their first two full-length albums, "One Way Street" and "The Wind". In April 2003, the band recorded its first live album, "Live at Manhattanville College”, soon to be released. The band has a growing legion of loyal fans that continue to support the band. N/A performs several times a month throughout New York City, and is a regular performer at all major Manhattanville College music events.
