Artist History
My name is Jeremy Russell from Indianapolis and I am a solo act, going by the name "Ishmu". I am 21 years old, have been playing bass for 6 1/2 years, guitar for 6 years, started singing 4 years ago and have also played drums for two years.
My first band was in 1995 in which I played bass. In my second band I played guitar. At this point I began to record my own songs on a cheap tape recorder. In my third band, Jealousy, I played guitar and sang. Although not entirely credible, we played a few places: The Purple Underground in Indianapolis, a big Halloween show in Milroy, Indiana (which was in excess of 100 people) and a club in Rushville, Indiana.
After this band broke up, I played acoustic stuff at a place call TTC in Indianapolis a few times.
I took that summer to go to a recording engineering school in Chillicothe, Ohio called The Recording Workshop
Now I have started recording my own songs again, including playing all the instruments.
Some of my influences include: Nirvana (mainly), the Beatles (and their solo work), Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Korn, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, CSNY, Leadbelly, Led Zepplin, The Doors, and many others. Currently I am most in tune with grunge, adding all my other influences to the mix.
Currently I am working on my next album called The Hall of Mirrors that is due out January 16th. After I am finished with that I'm going to promote it on the road. I am trying to play 6-12 gigs a month or more, I am also looking forward an effort to present an energetic, "explosive," and sometimes a little theatrical stage show.
