Artist History
Hailing from a city that encompasses blue-collar grit and honesty, Ghetto Puppet is about biting the bullet and rising above tough circumstances. They get the job done on their first CD, "Songs From the Floor". This CD features ten tracks that powerfully display emotions like desperation, pain, determination, hope, guilt, anger, regret, and revenge. From the first track "Jump Down", about trying to talk a friend out of suicide... to the last, "Go" about unselfishly leaving someone because you're selfish... you'll walk away feeling like someone has finally recorded your own personal soundtrack, and what you haven't experienced, you'll feel like you did. Ghetto Puppet is Carolyn Stone on vocals, Mike Jones on guitar, Jerry Quill on bass and Gary Gapa on drums. All four are Detroit natives and experienced musicians who have been in the business for 10+ years. Three of the four members grew up near the projects in Detroit and have been friends for most of their lives... bringing an element of the mean streets to their music.
Ghetto Puppet has been together for two years, playing the Motor City's biggest clubs... from The Emerald Theater to The Royal Oak Music Theatre to Harpo's, they've covered it all... even opening for nationals like Kittie, Ratt, and Planet X. Their live shows are explosive, versatile and appeal to a large demographic. Front woman, Carolyn Stone, delivers an ultra-energized performance that is uncharacteristic of most female performers, without sacrificing musicianship. From quiet melodic passages that crack with pain, to gut wrenching power that'll have your fist in the air… she's backed by a band that infuses rock, metal and blues... the result is a "grind-line" that cannot be denied. With chunky grooves, blistering guitar work, and straight up pounding drums, Ghetto Puppet drives the point home with solid "musical meat" and basic hooks that are easy to grab on to. "Songs From the Floor" was recorded and mixed at The Loft in Saline, Michigan, where national band Sponge recorded their platinum selling CD "Rotting Pinata", and was co-produced, mixed and engineered by Andy Patalan.
With the release of their new CD, Ghetto Puppet has just one goal in mind... to make you feel something.
