Artist History
In 1997 I got my first electric guitar and a cheesy little Tascam portastudio 4-track analog tape recording machine and began experimenting with music even though I didn't really have any formal training or technical playing skill.
What started out in Key West Florida as a 5 song EP known as Demolition, eventually finished in Biloxi, MS, as the first Cry For Life studio album Hands In The Dirt was completed. Released in 1998, the 11 track disc consisted mostly of roughly recorded instrumental rock tunes with catchy hooks, and a few keyboard based numbers thrown in for good measure.
Hands In The Dirt was a modest success on Mp3.com (before the site lost it's focus and subsequently sold out the indie artists, becoming the Bertelsmann Group's own personal bitch) with some of the most popular songs such as Andromeda Galaxie and Dragonchylde getting frequent downloads.
In 1999, I released a second full length; Promised The Stars was a 9 song disc including for the first time a large number of vocal tracks. However with the expansion of Mp3.com, the album seemed to get buried in a sea of other artists. Competition became too fierce for an musician with no desire to play live shows to promote it.
Later that year, I began brainstorming for a 3rd studio album, but my continued battle with depression took a big toll. In the period from late 1999 to summer 2002 a total of only 3 songs ever got recorded. At that time, I decided to make a fresh start with a new creative direction and a move to Kansas. These tracks were eventually released on a 3 song promotional EP/Maxi Single named "Dream Of Glass" that was both sent to local Kansas City radio stations (with little result), and made available for sale on cryforlife.com.
Good progress is finally being made on the 3rd LP, I've got so many songs I wish to add and not nearly as many chances to get them recorded as I would like, but things are shaping up nicely. |

Press Reviews
...are pointless excercises in trying to rate something that cannot be touched, only felt, and turn it into a commodity. |
