Artist History
Hailing from Tennessee's "other" hotbed of musical talent, Murfreesboro, The Roosevelts first etched their mark on the regional music scene by beating out 24 acts in a Battle of the Bands....only six months after their formation in 1998. Having spent the last 5 years recording and touring nationally, the three-piece has built a sizeable and dedicated fan base. With a solid local following in tow, the band secured independent distribution for their first full-length, Friday Nights, released on Reborn Records. Over 1,400 copies of Friday Nights crossed national retail counters in 2000 and 2001. Favorable press and radio play followed as the band released two singles from Friday Nights, garnering airplay at over 25 stations nationally. "One And Only" landed in the top 20 at KYMC (St. Louis) and "Sweetheart" peaked at #4 on the PAJ rock charts. After the closing of Reborn in 2001, the band, with the help of their day jobs, released their self-funded, self-titled CD. Recorded and produced by Cliffy Huntington (The Huntingtons, The Stivs), the album has sold over 1,800 copies to date. The Roosevelts have played an average of 50 shows a year since their creation, sharing the stage with the likes of P.O.D., Bleach, The Huntingtons and Squad Five-O and have performed for thousands at several high-profile festivals including the AGAPE Festival (IL), Cornerstone Festival (IL), Tom Fest (OR) and Sonshine Festival (MN).The Roosevelts have been honing their skills - both musically and emotionally - and plan a 2003 effort to show off their songwriting growth. No longer three kids with catchy teen-trouble anecdotes, The Roosevelts have matured from a pop-punk band that can crush the competition at the Battle of the Bands into an post-punk assemblage that is always easy on the ears yet occasionally hard on the heart.
