Artist History
Donna Kay Honey began her successful music career when she was a little bitty child of 8 in a talent show at her school. She stunned her audience with her first two original songs “There’s a Little Bitty Spider Living in My Hair” followed by “Uncle Teddy Loves My Brother”. Donna felt proud of the silence she invoked from the entire audience of parents that day in the gymnasium. While being led from the stage Donna Kay took her first of several bows feeling inspired by the awe of the crowd. She knew she was meant to perform, although she never did at school again. Donna Kay Honey continues to compile her songs mostly originating from events in her life (her diary) and the experiences of the diverse existence that provides her with enough original material to last her a lifetime.
Donna Kay Honey was born and raised at the Bubblin’ Vista Trailer Park near Enumclaw, Washington where her musical parents Claude and Bunny Honey were towed when their house trailer lost its wheels on rough mountain roads heading to Puyallup from Kalispell, Montana to perform with their troupe of road weary musicians. The Vista became their permanent home, forever. After her school singing debut Donna Kay Honey became well known for being able to put her diary to music and performed with the Honeys at the traditional Vista barbeque fiascos and jam sessions. Claude Honey changed his name to Claudette soon after Bunny got fed up and left him and the Vista, and Claudette raised Donna Kay to proudly carrying on the Honey name. She formed her own band the Cowpokers from residents of the Bubblin’ Vista where they all live today.
Keeping in tradition, the Bubblin’ Vista “bunch” still regularly gather around the barbeque pit for a weenie roast and to harmonize some of their favorite Donna Kay songs. Throughout the night you can hear the unforgettable music of Donna Kay Honey and the Cowpokers wafting on the winds carrying her musical tributes far beyond the Vista into the hearts and souls of unsuspecting audiences.
Donna Kay now performs around the world, stunning audiences wherever and whenever she can. She found not only fame and fortune but many lifelong friends, human as well as animal. Most recently, Ms. Honey was a rodeo star in Montana. She is well known as Princess Boobalina in Lithuania.
Donna Kay is the musical inspiration to her Vista Park vagabonds and guides them into useful lives by forcing them into her band. Donna Kay’s love of her music and the re-creation of her life experiences through deep meaningful messages in her songs continue to light the path for the Cowpokers and her growing multitudes of fans.
