    Artist History
Devilmakesthree was formed in Autumn 2002 by Marty Robinson [guitar/vox]. After leaving metalcore act Spindrift in 2001, he took a break to gather his thoughts then quite by chance he stumbled upon drummer Paul Duffy. These guys had met 10 years previously through a mutual friend and were now working a small distance from each other, leading to exited chats about "Carcass in '94" and the bands they were both into. Marty had told Paul about the stuff he was writing and Paul agreed to help out on the drums after hearing a rough demo. As luck would have it, Marty had been involved with Dave McCallum [Bass] in numerous "bar bands" they had started on drunken visits to Belfast, and he was definately the man for a real band! He has a Trace Elliott man!!! With the addition of Gavin "Chief" Coulter on 2nd guitar the live line-up was completed... and so it was born. Devilmakesthree.

    Press Reviews
Mourning Beloveth + Hexxed + Cruel + Devilmakesthree Belfast, Rosetta Bar March 2003 ...Devilmakesthree opened proceedings up purveying a sound you will no doubt all be well familiar with from the Carcass and Entombed back catalogue. By taking this well trodden basic formula and adding a smidgeon of groove and no small amount of style to it, they have managed to give themselves a start above the mire of bargain basement plagiarism and onto the long hard road of developing a style which is recognisably theirs. Tonights performance by them was well executed and full of energy, airing more than the 3 songs of their first demo which were all at the very least of the same quality of the tunes on the CD. Excellent for a band playing their third gig and debuting a new guitarist, the highlight of the night for me. David Gillespie -- 11/04/03 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "CAUTION: WILL CAUSE NECK INJURY" REVIEWS Powerplay Magazine - Issue 41 - March 2003 Devilmakesthree pull no punches on their first demo, "Caution:Will Cause Neck Injury". The three-track CD is extremely promising from this Belfast outfit and guaranteed to cause a stir in the metal scene. Punishing riffs and a driving beat with your fairly typical throaty style vocals makes this outfit worth checking out. Devilmakesthree have a full sound and are aggressive in vocals and delivery, but there is an underlying feel in the music that is almost reminiscent of early Sepultura or Entombed - a type of progressive and yet tribal rhythm, and this is especially evident on the last track "Feed the Greed". "Starstruck" and "Heaven Descent" are also very catchy and will have you headbanging away. Marty Robinson's vocals are well delivered and strong, while his guitar work with Andrew Clarke, has a grinding quality to the riffs. Paul Duffy on drums and Dave McCallum on bass provide the perfect wall of sound to accompany the vocals and guitars. The band are tight and show their love of metal through the songs that they have selected for their first demo. Devilmakesthree are sure to go far on the strength of this, their first demo, but be careful though: "Caution:Will Cause Neck Injury" will do exactly that!. 8/10. Glenn Butler -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Metal-rules.com - April 2003 http://www.metal-rules.com/ Released: 2002, Independent | Rating: 4.5/5 | Reviewer: Patton Devilmakesthree are a band based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. They describe their style of music as "aggressive metal with a strong progressive thrash/death metal influence, coupled with a serious groove!" That description is spot on! When I first heard devilmakesthree they were opening a show here in Belfast. I thought they were awesome live so I got a copy of this demo and they're awesome on CD too! On hearing the first track, "Starstruck" I knew I was gonna love it. Heavily influenced by Carcass this song is heavy and brutal and will have you headbanging throughout. "Heaven Descent" is a faster track and has a very groovy feel to it. The last song on this demo is "Feed The Greed" .This track is the fastest out of the three with a slight Dismember feel to it. Overall this is an excellent first effort from devilmakesthree and taking into consideration that it was produced independently. The vocals on the demo are powerfully growled and there are nice solos in each song while a good tempo is maintained. You can get a copy of this demo from their official website.
