Artist History
From Kansas City, Kansas, hiding in the dark corners of the ghetto, arises the heavy, menacing, and disturbing sound of THIRD WORLD SIN. A crushing blend of hardcore and death metal, with influences ranging from Will Haven, Six Feet Under, Fear Factory, and Slayer, Third World Sin is a slap to the senses.
A show at a local Kansas City metal club, Nieners, in the summer of 2002, proved Third World Sin worthy enough to record a 3 song EP with Eric Conrad of Opata. Shortly after that show, Third World Sin, feeling held back by guitarist Robert Gabree, sent him on his way and beat Kyle Homan into thier vicious street gang.
Concieved in May of 2002, Mike Yeager, John Thammovongsa, Josh Smithey, and Robert Gabree were known as 'Stand To Reason'. They wrote "Crack The Mirror," "My Wrath," and "Fallen Angels Rising Demons," but the songs seemed lost and empty. At this point Phil Mitchum was brought in , and the void was quickly filled with his brutal "classic metal" style of shredding. There was one other problem with Stand To Reason, Stand to reason is an emo band from Arizona, and feeling disgusted at the chance to be confused with an emo band, the name was quickly changed to THIRD WORLD SIN. With songs like "Beauty Filled Scars," "Steam," "Plague of Tomorrow," and "Mine To Lie," the diversity of Third World Sin truely shines through.
After the EP is finished, Third World Sin plan to write new material for a full length CD and are preparing for a small midwest tour in late July-early August of 2003. Like it or not, Third World Sin is here to carve their niche into the hardcore/death metal scene.
