Artist History
Jon Farb and Ryan Hodgson met at Ramapo High School, New Jersey in 1993. Jon had played drums with an array of punk, rock and hardcore bands throughout his teens and college years while Ryan was a highly skilled guitarist who had already begun writing his own material. Having taken different directions out of school the pair would finally decide to work together in July of 2002 when Ryan asked Jon to play in a band he was assembling in Manhattan.
Will Tidey arrived in New York City on July 2nd, 2002. Raised on the South Coast of England he had played with several local bands before finding success as a Solo artist performing in and around the London circuit. Just a month after his arrival Will answered an ad that Ryan and Jon had submitted in the press and was asked to join the band after two rehearsals.
The line-up was completed with the arrival of bass player Billy Vassiliadis. Billy hails from Queens, New York and has also spent four years living in Greece. Having played with a wide variety of bands and as an experienced studio musician Billy proved the perfect compliment to the band dynamic.
Lower Lot played their first live show on October 1st, 2002 at Suite 16, New York. They have since played many of New York City's notorious rock n' roll venues including The Elbow Room, Arlene Grocery, The Cutting Room, Le Bar Bat, Acme Underground and Luna Lounge, building a loyal and ever expanding following with their energetic and explosive performances.
In November 2002 the band recorded a three-song demo at NY Hed Studios called "Something Really Fine", a low cost recording, which though rushed, helped build a buzz that continues to grow.
In April 2003 Lower Lot traveled to Philadelphia to record 4 songs with Producer Joe Mattis. The "1995" EP was recorded, mixed and mastered at Pump Town Productions. |
