    Artist description
Rest. We all would like some but can't seem to get our hands on it. Rest comes from letting things out and putting them down. Found this out when I was in a hardcore band (undefiled) and then in a ska-core band (the oisters). Releasing energy is so exciting and let's you get the rest you truly deserve. In the fall of '00, some friends and I from college started a band called memoirs from yesterday. I came up with the name from an old journal entry I had stating "...sometimes you need to go back and look at the memoirs from yesterday. I see just exactly how I have grown and matured over the years." I looked back and realized that was so true. So the name stuck, but somehow due to numerous factors; the band folded. I joined up with some friends for this emo/rock project (VBK, D-nice/ elec. guitar) and we did stuff for a little while but it didn't last. So alas, I graduated college and moved back to Virginia Beach, VA with a whole lot of time on my hands and tons of lyrics from previous groups we never worked on or got to. Then it started. My roommate (Shawn/ bassist) and I started sitting down together and writing some music. He claims he was having some sort of writer's block so I did most of the writing and he added to it. At that point we had just two acoustics and vocals. We played a few places and that was fun, but I wanted something more. One night we were playing this coffee house and Dave (D-nice) was asking if we were ever going to go to a full band? I rolled out with "Sure, ya wanna jam with us?" At the time I was half kidding, but he called and I was surprised, so he was in. But the drummer was a difficult addition. We had one guy jam with us once or twice, but things didn't exactly fit. Then I got calls from everybody and their momma (especially the She Said kids, thanks guys) about this kid (Sam/ drummer) and how his band broke up and he was looking to get into something. He was a edge-e-er (yes I just made that a word) kind of drummer, but fit the part perfect. Chris Conley (of She Said, lead guitar) came into the picture shortly after and he fit well as a lead guitarist. Tom Gibson (bassist to date) came along after first trying the drum thing but things just didn't fit, but now he is back in full effect and doing great. Now you are up to speed and things are going well. We are writing music and doing the best we can. We all have come together for a reason, a higher power made it happen, we are convinced of that, ask us about it sometime... Making music can take some effort but all and all we sometimes need to look back at our "memoirs from yesterday" and see how far we've actually come. -Jason [acoustic/ vocals]
