Artist description Since forming in the summer of 2000, Holden have gigged their way around Stockholm and the rest of Sweden. Blending raw energy with influences of electronica, Holden create a unique and suggestive wall of sound which has earned them a reputation as a quality live act. In keeping with this, the band record live in the studio, only overdubbing extra guitar or keyboard parts where necessary. Their sound ranges from bloody-minded punk agression to tripped-out psychedelia, all the while remaining instantly recognisable as Holden. At the moment, they are completing recording sessions at Polar Studios with Roger Krieg, former head of the EMI studio in Stockholm, who has engineered and produced several well-known Swedish acts such as Louise Hoffsten and Sara Isaksson. Holden's as-yet untitled debut album is scheduled be released in January 2003 on their own label, Quityourdayjob Records. Holden were featured on TV4 (national TV channel in Sweden) in autumn 2002 and have attracted the attention of Plaza magazine and Sweden's best selling paper, Aftonbladet. Jenny started playing the piano at age 6 and the cello at age 9 but didn't actually try singing until she was 17. Despite this late debut she has developed a distinctive vocal style and has a truly charismatic stage prescence. Jenny faced massive media attention when she was voted Sweden’s sexiest woman by Cafe Magazine in 1998 and has a stage prescence other singers can only dream of having, according to one review and is a female incarnation of Mick Jagger according to another. Johann started out as the lead singer of death metal band Epitaph. At the early age of 14 they signed with a french label and have sold records world wide, mostly on rare and obscure metal compilations. In april 2001 this singularly energetic drummer joined Holden. Joe was originally a drummer but switched to guitar in his teens when he discovered he was really a songwriter. Joe's English background lends Holden a distinctly un-Swedish lyrical edge. His somewhat brutal approach to guitar playing usually leaves him bleeding onstage. Anders' passion for classical and film music shines through on several Holden tracks. Since the age of 17, Anders has composed scores for film and TV, and has performed electronica at various festivals. His collection of vintage synthesizers help form a vital part of Holden's sound. Martin brings a diverse mix of influences to the band, including jazz, psychedelia and motown, all of which can be heard in Holden’s songs. Check out his bass playing on Look At Me for examples of all of the above. Martin and Johann have played together for 10 years, and form one of the most revered rhythm sections in Sweden.
