Mixing heavy dynamics with tender brilliance Falling Nine are aiming to create a strong melodic rock sound. Artist History Falling Nine came together in the most unorthadox of ways during October 2002. Usually most bands are put together by groups of people who have known each other for a long time, however Falling Nine would change this... Whilst searching on an Internet site for local band members back in November 2001, David Lydiard came across a vocalist from Cardiff who matched his criteria perfectly. Only trouble was Nicola Tanetta was in America. They kept in touch via email and promised that when she returned they would work together. Whilst away David would write the music to her song 'Garden of Angels' and continue to work on honing his own skills. Skip forward to October 2002, David replied to an ad on another Internet site from guitarist Phil Grove who was looking to join a band. The pair got in touch and decided that they would meet up one week later in a local bar. During that week they spoke every day and Lydiard realised that he needed a band. Chris O'Connell (drums) had known David for years so when he was asked to join him he was quick to say yes. Meanwhile, Nicola had returned from America and David was having trouble getting hold of her, but once he did he persuaded her to come to the bar with him and the others. It would be the first time he had seen Nicola and Phil and after coming up with several unsuitable names, Wanksput getting a laugh however, they decided on Falling Nine. This new year has seen Grove being asked to leave the band due to musical differences and former Working Title frontwoman Anna Williams recruited in his place. Chris O'Connell has since left to concentrate on his studies and the band have added Steve Watts on bass. Currently the band are working on a demo cd. They are looking to create heavy, dynamic music mixed with tender brilliance and intelligent lyrics. Their mp3.com site, www.mp3.com/Falling_Nine, contains a few acoustic demo's. Could they be the next big thing for melodic rock??
