    Artist History
Chris Coyle has been recording and writing his own music since the 80s. 4 tracking in his own bedroom leading to putting out his own cassette of those early tapes in 1998 titled Blue Sky On Wednesday. Recently he hooked up with fellow musician Seth Brown currently at Berkley in Boston and recorded a Monkees tribute EP calling themselves Just2 . My Favorite Monkee features 6 songs of mostly Mike Nesmith favorites. Currently looking for release of that material. Coyle is currently working on material for a more proper solo album.

    Press Reviews
Chris Coyle is a solo musician from Windham, Maine, and this demo is a seven song collection of performances he's made on his four track recorder. Playing the tape reveals an easy to listen to, mellow rock experience. The song writing is good, and there is a variety of flavors on the album that keep it interesting. A favorite in particular is the fourth track on side one titled, "Plant a Seed" it's got almost a beach or surf feel to it, and it's rather sixtes sounding. I also like the second track on side two, "Soul Searching". It's got a little of an 80's drum vibe to it, but a very Beatles sounding vocal part. The musicianship on the album is good. Everything is in tune and on time, but not very intricate; There's lots of standard-sounding progressions, nothing too unusual. The biggest complaint I might have is the manner in which Chris' voice is recorded. It sounds a little quakey. I'm not sure if it's an effect (wide chorus or a quick delay) or just the way it was recorded, but it makes it difficult to hear the words. All in all, though, a pleasant release, but nothing earth shattering. Reviewed by Dave Magnuson : March 23, 1998. Coyle's style is unique, yet familiar at the same time. He's got a kind of 50's doo-wop element going on, along with a definite 60's Beatle-ish influence, but there's an edge of quirkiness or characteristic charm that is completely his own and quite engaging. I don't know if it's the dreamlike phasing or if it's the pure emotion Chris shows on the title track, but I do know I recommend this one.. Reviewed by Bryan Baker 8/9/99.
