Artist description
My solo recordings basically cover all musical styles I couldn't fit into the bands I was currently playing in, so it's pretty much all over the place.
It would, however, be safe to say that I prefer a slightly "bubblegum" sound to my solo thingies. And I like to play wild electric guitar, and layer as many vocals as my 4-track can take... |

Artist History
Born in Middlesbrough in 1978, and currently living in Holland, I've played (semi) professionally ever since I was 15.
My first band was a grunge/punk band called Galm ("Reverb"). After that I briefly flirted with symphonic pop (à la ELO) before reüniting Galm in a better and more serious setup in 1995.
Galm was put on ice in the summer of '97, and in the meantime the "David Bowie meets Pet Shop Boys" band The Supersedatives had been and gone already.
From The Supersedatives came forth, in late '97, the electronic rock group Monomelodies, combining severe electronic noise with severe noise guitar, and REAL songs.
Monomelodies was hyped somewhat in our hometown of Haarlem, but from a general laziness played only two gigs ever (which both went disastrous).
After this I joined an Amsterdam band called Eurotrash which worked REALLY hard (we even played in Hamburg once, and YES, it was in a club on the Reeperbahn), but eventually it wasn't really going anywhere either.
My old collaborator Tijmen and I toyed with the idea of reüniting first Galm (doomed from the onset) and then Monomelodies (leaving one demo song, and doomed too).
Then I sort of retired from music for a bit, until I met my old friend Bas van Stenis (who had originally auditioned for The Supersedatives) and we decided to form jASMiNE.

Check us out. I promise you, the quality of the material is MUCH higher than on my solo stuff, but at least this gives you all an idea where I'm coming from. And, let's be frank, songs like How Long Can We Leave This or All I Want Is You wouldn't be too out of place on a jASMiNE record. |

Press Reviews
Haarlems Dagblad about Monomelodies:
"That fact that Ophorst isn't the world's greatest singer isn't their biggest problem..."
