Artist History
Hailing from Australia, Hugh Wilson is one of the biggest talents ever to emerge from the Southern Hemisphere. Discovered in 1990 via a nationwide talent show, Hugh was immediately snapped up by Australia’s premiere management company, signed a publishing deal and then recorded a much lauded debut album, Iliad, on Polydor Records. Described as having the “voice of an angel and the stage presence that hails from the dark side” (reviewers have always noted Hugh’s dramatic stage presence), Hugh captivated teenage girls from around the country, becoming a heartthrob sensation in addition to a sought after recording artist.
Hugh was later signed to BMG, and as the lead singer of the band, Vertigo, he enjoyed a Top 40 hit. During this time, Hugh made several music videos, performed live coast to coast and appeared numerous times on national television.
In addition to being a prolific singer/songwriter, Hugh is a gifted musician, skilled in guitar, bass, piano and drums. He produces his own compositions and has served as producer for numerous other artists.
Hugh is now based in New York City and is working on his forthcoming solo album.
