Artist description Ascetic took shape in the Summer of 2002, a continuation of songwriting efforts from Matt Kesler and Josh Skiles, who have worked together on various projects since high school.

Music Style The group's sound is defined by thrash riffs, harmonized guitar leads, and dual melodic and death metal vocals. It invokes the Gothenburg sound of the mid-90's, elements of old and new school thrash, and the current insurgence of metal from the East Coast. The music reflects the group's influences, but at the same time maintains its own distinct identity.
