Bio
Woods of Ypres plays a unique style of high energy black metal with deep, lasting melodies and a certain cold, flowing sorrow that appropriately celebrates that which you learn in times of sadness. Their debut recording: Against the Seasons - Cold Winter Songs from the Dead Summer Heat pays tribute to those desperate times with 31 minutes of euro riffs, blasts, black and clean vocals in a combination of extreme musicianship and tasteful song writing that will leave you emotionally spent. The CD was named from the fact that the band were working Against the Seasons, creating cold, blue, melodic black metal during a long, hot, miserable summer. This hard process has produced good results as they have received excellent reviews from such credible sources as Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles, Digital Metal, Unrestrained, and The Metal Observer (with more pending). They have also been notified of interest from labels in Germany and the United States as well as Canada. Though having just formed in May of 2002, Woods of Ypres have proven to be genuine in having something original to share with the listening world. Woods of Ypres are currently writing new material as they continue to define the Black Metal sound that will one day be synonymous with Ontario, Canada.
