Artist description
STUDIO PAGOL
Despite widespread influences, this is certainly no odd job and the mix of Techno, Pop, Oriental, even Cocktail music is guaranteed to enrapture its audience.
But who stands behind the musical output of this piece of recording ?
The main culprits are MABOUL.
Two experienced musicians having "survived" some flimsy line ups and latest to date, a whimsical yet talented individual called Mustapha LARGO (also the name of their previous band) who left MABOUL to go solo.
This particularly traumatising event led MABOUL to open themselves to several other personalities such as:
LAILA AMEZIAN a singer and dancer well known in Europe
BAPI DAS BAUL an Indian vocalist from Calcutta living in Paris
PIERRE VERVLOESEM a Belgian , famous for producing dEUS
JOHN LITTON BAROI a Bengalese vocalist, well travelled and married to a Belgian.
MADIHA FEGUIGUI a Moroccan classical singer living in Belgium
Amongst others, all set to merge their respective input into STUDIO PAGOL.
WHO IS MABOUL ?
Well, Maboul stands for loony in French, a tongue in cheek expression describing these two characters quite accurately !
Marc Van Eyck and Philippe "Boulon" Vanheer have been playing music together since quite a while, mixing acoustic instruments & computer generated sounds and taking great pleasure in turning any musical genre upside down.
After the trauma induced by the departure of their previous singer Mustapha, with whom they enjoyed tremendous success playing live supporting KHALED, CHEB MAMI, YOUSSOU’N DOUR or GEOFFREY ORYEMA, they decided to pursue their aural investigations resulting in various collaborations.
WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE ?
Cool down, it's all about breaking boundaries, trying to squirt out the quintessence of this or that particular musical category (what an ugly word!)
