    Artist description
In August 2002, Nick Caffacus, a professional musician for over 20 years, left a successful career in the piano industry. With the support of family and friends, he is now almost finished with the first CD of his own music. The studio, production, and manufacturing is equal to that of the “big boys” in the industry. Nick’s CD presents 8 original songs with Nick performing piano and vocals. Also on the CD are 7 of the finest musicians on the east coast. He also includes a rendition of a Bruce Hornsby song. Nick is known for playing Bruce’s music, as well as being a fan. Nick’s songs were written over the last 25 years. You’ll hear songs that are described as a cross between Elton John, Bruce Hornsby, Phil Collins, Chris Isaac, Billy Joel (Nick’s hero), and Journey. There are more opinions, but you decide for yourself. Nick will be performing in concert, both solo and with bands, as much as possible as the CD is released. Some interesting venues for release concerts are in consideration and Nick is counting on your support!

    Artist History
Nick Caffacus grew up in in Newport News, a. He began his music career at church in choir at 5 and on to musical dramas by age 7. He could not stay away from the piano. With only 2 years of lessons he is mostly self-taught. Nicks first bands were formed at church very early on and in Intermediate and High School started with rock & roll bands then The Warwick High Jazz Ensemble. This time period introduced him to many local influences, including Bruce Hornsby, Victor Wooten, and also well known local bands like Slapwater, Harvest, The Smith – Wade Band, T.C. & the Strays, Just Us, and LP & Co. just to name a few. He eventually played with LP & Co., on to Just Us, and then into his first recording project with Rusty Payne, guitarist of Norfolk. Nick then went on tour with The Boxtops. After a year he left them for an offer in Minnesota & after only one Minneapolis winter, a welcome phone call came to join Liz Marks, Richmond’s Entertainer of the year. Still not 21, Nick had toured over 30 states & was back on the East Coast. After a couple years with Liz, Nick became a partner in a large production rock & roll band called Why on Earth. This group was the closest to making it yet, but typical rock band problems ended the dream in 1 year. Nick went to try his luck in New York & gained studio, television, and jingle experience but came back to N.N. again & joined Slapwater, a local part time band, but Nick had been full time too long and ended up joining The Rhondels shortly after. Touring with them from ’87 to ’89 was great experience but it was again time to try to make it big. He joined Richmond’s Klee 2, recorded an album with them and became house band at The Tobacco Co. The band continued to record originals & came closer than ever to a national label deal. The odds were against it. The band dissolved in 1991. Again, back home to Newport News! Nick started to use the newest technology programming his band & played all over the area as a solo act for the next 10 years. At times he also worked freelance with the bands Trouble, The Cheyenne Band, The Smith-Wade Band, and also played duo with John Dewey of Hampton, and Williamsburg’s Johnny St.Clair. During this time Nick married Karen who he met while playing in Newport News. They now have 2 children, Nick - 9 and Hannah - 5 . In 1997 Nick entered the piano business representing Yamaha and then Steinway & Sons Pianos. Nick could not perform nearly as much as he was used to. In August of 2002 Nick decided it was time to leave the piano biz and go for the dream one more time. Nick now performs & is working daily on recording, producing, and promoting his first CD of his own! Everything is on the line and he is using the best talent and resources possible with his original works. These songs have been written over a span of 25 years. Nick will tour and promote this fervently. the CD titled ...at night by Nick Caffacus - release date - FEB 2003!!
