Artist History
September 2001 - Chad Merritt quits present bands "IgnorantByDefault", and "Bottle Cap" to pursue other interests and the idea for "16 Hour Drive" is in place. For the next 3 months songs are written and recorded for the the new project.
January 2002 - Chad hooks up with friend Jimmy Parkhill who plays guitar and Jeremy Batisti who plays drums. Chad plays bass/sings. The three get a few songs down and rent a rehearsal space for a short 3 months then Chad's son Nicolas is born. The band goes on a 4 month break.
September 2002 - Chad hooks back up with Jimmy and his good friend Chad Carnevalle who plays drums. The three rent a rehearsal space and start playing shows in October.
November 2002 - Chad Carnevalle leaves the band to pursue other interests and Brian Evans is brought in to play drums.
January 2003 - Jimmy Parkhill leaves the band to pursue other interests and Chad moves back over to guitar and bassist Ron Ridley is brought in to play bass. Which brings us up to the current "16 Hour Drive" and a totally new level I might add. The first EP was recorded in April of 2003 at doubletime studios in Santee California. Which brings us up to present day. Now 16 Hour Drive is hard at work with Press Packages, shows, duplication of the EP, and best of all alot of new material. 16 Hour Drive plans on returning to doubletime studios in late June or early July to finish up their first complete album. See ya at the show!
